EduSport Foundation is Zambia’s most prominent sports & community development NGO. It was founded in 1999 in response to identified gaps in opportunities for communities to participate in sport and for youth empowerment. It evolved from the National Sport Council of Zambia’s “sport for all” programme and the concept of ‘Education through Sport’ and evolved from there to be one of the leading indigenous ‘sport for change’ organisations.
EduSport has made a substantial impact in using sport to achieve local community development goals – EduSport has national reach engaging 14,000 young people as peer leaders who in turn cascade their life skills and knowledge on health and rights issues to over 25,000 youths in wider communities. EduSport works in 8 out of the 10provinces– Lusaka, Western, Copperbelt, Eastern, Central, Muchinga, N/western and Southern Provinces. The Organisation runs programmes in 131 schools /153 communities across 18 districts.
